Major responsibilities include inspecting pharmaceutical manufacturing units, medical stores, wholesalers, and distributors to ensure compliance with drug laws. Drug Inspectors collect samples to detect substandard or spurious drugs, investigate complaints, conduct raids, and initiate legal proceedings when violations are found.
They also issue, renew, suspend, or cancel licenses related to the manufacture and sale of drugs, monitor labeling and storage conditions, and ensure ethical drug advertising. For Schedule-C drugs (vaccines, sera, biologics), additional technical experience is required as per rules.
